Joey Scott (33) and her family achieved their dream of owning a farm where they could grow organic vegetables and raise animals in February 2004. Shortly after Joey was diagnosed with leukemia. After two years of hospitalization and treatments, Joey’s health improved; however, funds they had set aside for repairing the farmhouse were depleted to pay medical expenses. Problems with the outdated wiring threatened to destroy the farmhouse earlier this year when Joey awoke to explosions and sparks. They have continued to live in these unsafe conditions for months after the fire threat.
Cosentino®, the maker of Silestone® quartz countertops, joined with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to provide countertop surfaces, fabrication and installation services with hands-on involvement from Easy Fit Countertops of Ohio at the Scott build site. Cosentino donated Silestone® quartz for a Kitchen, Master Bathroom and Laundry Room in the colors White North and Unsui. They were the first of three color preferences that the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition designers considered for each room.
